Scheduling backups

One old copy is not enough. Backups are taken on a regular schedule that balances how fresh the data is against the cost of storage.

How we decide how often

The faster your data changes, the more often you need backups. An active store, for example, needs daily backups or more, while others can do with fewer.

What a schedule includes

  • A frequency that fits how fast your data changes.
  • Keeping backups long enough to go back in time.
  • Copies in separate places for extra safety.
  • Regular checks that the backups are complete.
