Definition
YouTube ads are the videos that play around other people's videos, plus the small banners beside them. The one everybody knows is the skippable ad before a video, with a Skip button that appears after five seconds. You buy them inside Google Ads, from the same account as your search adverts.
The charge is narrower than most people expect. On a skippable ad you pay only if the viewer watches thirty seconds, or the whole film when it is shorter than that, or clicks it. Everyone who skips at second six costs you nothing. So a paid view usually costs pennies rather than pounds. That sounds cheap until you remember what you bought. You bought attention. You did not buy an enquiry.
Which makes the first five seconds the whole advert. Say who you are, where you are and what you are offering before the Skip button appears. No slow logo, no long music opening. A phone camera in a bright room with clean sound is enough, and a polished film with nothing to say does worse than an honest one. Linkysoft counts a video campaign as working when the phone rings, not when the view count climbs.
Is it worth it for a local business? It depends on whether the customer already knows they need you. A man with a leaking pipe searches. A plain search ad meets him at that moment, he is ready to call, and his money is easier to win. Nobody searches for a gym they have never heard of, or a dental clinic that opened two streets away last week. That is the work video does. Being remembered before the need arrives, and showing a place that looks good on camera.
The honest order is to start with search, prove it brings in more than it costs, then add video. And keep the same film busy. The video you paid for should also run on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, which is the job Syncr was built for. Linkysoft plans the two together, because a marketing campaign built on video alone tends to look busy and sell very little.
